Q. How old do you have to be to get your learners permit? A. A student must be at least 15 years of age to receive their learner's permit
Q. How do I register for classes? A. Registration can be done via US Postal Service as the form from your school needs a signature. You can also call and leave a message and we will return your call as soon as we can.
Q. How long do classes typically run? A. Classes run 2 hours a day 2 days a week for 8 weeks
Q. How many classes am I allowed to miss A. Students are only allowed to miss 3 days, but they can be made up during any other class session.
Q. How does the Behind The Wheel work?
- STUDENTS MUST ALWAYS CARRY PERMIT DURING ALL BTW SESSIONS
- JR'S has home, school or work, pick up and drop off service for BTW
- Students must drive for 6 hours and observe a student for 6 hours. Once a student is picked up from home, they will be out for one hour and they will do this 12 times.
- Students must log 50 hours of practice time with a parent. This includes night and day driving. This is a State of Illinois requirement.
- Students will need to have filled out a driving log in order to go to the Secretary of State for their road test. The form can be found in our forms section.
Q. How much is the down payment?
- There is a $150.00 deposit due when you sign up to hold a seat in class. This deposit is non-refundable.
- The balance is due by the first day of class.
Q. When can I get my license?
- The State Of Illinois will require a student to hold their permit for 9 months before the student can take the road test.
- Students must receive their certificate of completion, also known as a blue slip, in order to be eligible to take the road test to get their license at the Secretary of State's office.
- Students must pass the road test to get their license.
- Unfortunately we are not allowed to grant waivers for the road test.
Q. Do you offer adult Behind the Wheel lessons?
A. Yes, we offer BTW lessons for $70.00/hour.
